Some of the top cross country teams and runners in the state are right here in southeast Iowa. In this week’s cross country polls issued by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches, five teams from the KCII listening area are represented.

The Washington Demon boys are No. 8 in this week’s Class 3A rankings. In the individual poll, Tyler Alderton checks in at No. 22.

In Class 2A, the Mid-Prairie boys are in the No. 1 spot for the first time this season. The Golden Hawk girls are No. 2 in their poll. There are five ranked Mid-Prairie runners between the boys and girls squads with Emmett Swartzentruber No. 5, Brooklyn Stutzman No. 10, Kendal Landstrum No. 13, Preston Yutzy No. 16 and Rachel Hostetler No. 23.

In Class 1A, the Columbus Wildcat boys are No. 12 in this week’s rankings with Ty Muniz at No. 15 individually. WACO’s Jude Dykstra is No. 19 in the boys individual rankings and Hillcrest standout Marie Yoder climbs into the top 10 this week at No. 9 in the girls IATC 1A poll.
