September is Preparedness Month in Iowa. It is an opportunity for everyone to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, schools, and communities. Iowa’s Preparedness Month is held in conjunction with National Preparedness Month, which is observed each September in the United States of America and sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). KCII News spoke with Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen to talk about Preparedness, “Simple things. It doesn’t have to be hard it’s just what do I need everyday? And if it’s not where I think it’s going to be or if it’s not available in the way that I am used to it being available. How do I adapt?” Step One for preparedness month is to make an emergency plan. Step Two: Build an emergency kit. Step Three: Be aware of hazards in your area. You can find more information on Preparedness Month with this news story at KCIIRadio.com. https://ready.iowa.gov/
