The Hillcrest Academy soccer and golf teams are in action Friday night against a set of foes from the KCII listening area. The Raven soccer team can claim the outright Southeast Iowa Superconference title tonight with a win over Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union. Hillcrest comes in at 8-2 overall, 6-1, first place in the Superconference. On the season, the Ravens have outscored their opponents 38-9 in total with 199 shots, 119 on goal, 43 corner kicks, 31 assists and 54 saves with an 86% save percentage. Individually, Micah Gerber has the team lead with a dozen goals. Seth Ours has a team best eight assists, and in goal, Kyle Neuschwander has 32 saves and an 87% save percentage. The Raven’s last league championship was 2019.

Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union is 2-6 overall, 2-3 in league play, winners of back-to-back matches over WACO and Burlington Notre Dame. This season, the Wildcats have been outscored 32-9 in total. Individually, two Wildcats have scored this season, Fernando Erazo has five goals, Sachiel Villagrana four, Juan Inarritu-Cruz and Bryan Tlatenchi each have two assists, and Leo Corona has 41 saves in goal with a 56% save percentage.

These two teams have split their last eight meetings, with ‘Cats winning a season ago 2-1. It’s also Senior Night for the Ravens as they honor Mason Swartzendruber.

The Hillcrest boys and girls golf teams travel to Twin Lakes Golf Course in Winfield tonight to take on WACO. Both the Raven and Warrior boys were last in action Wednesday at the Southeast Iowa Superconference Championship meet in Fort Madison, where Hillcrest was seventh as a team with a 375 total for 18 holes, led by Liam Schrock in seventh overall with an 83, earning second team All-Conference honors and WACO 15th as a team with a 454 total, led by Noah Fried with a 108 in 63rd. On the season, the Ravens have a team average of 178 per nine with a 168 low and a 369 average per 18 with a 357 low. Rowan Miller holds the best averages of 38 and 81 per nine and 18 respectively, followed by Schrock at 42 and 86 and Seth Ours at 44 and 89. The WACO boys have a team average of 243 per nine with a 224 low. Malachi Rinner’s 55 average is best on nine.

The Raven girls have been off since a 201-271 dual loss to Louisa-Muscatine on the road in the last week of April where they were led by Claire Withrow’s 63. On the season, Hillcrest has a team average of 326 per nine with a 253 low. Individual leader is Izzy Frederick at 75 with Withrow at 77. WACO last played April 25th, falling at Heritage Oaks to Wapello 252-345 despite a 73 from Morgan Meyer. On the year, the Warriors have a 320 average per nine with a 283 low. Individually, Meyer’s 69 average is best on nine, followed by Shanae Riley at 83.
