The Wellman Fire Station will be a popular place today, as the Department is hosting its Fourth Annual Tenderloin Dinner from 4-7:30 p.m.
First held in 2021, the Tenderloin Dinner has grown each year. Thanks to meat donations from Brenneman Pork and Prairie Pork, plus to-go boxes from Bayer out of Williamsburg, the Wellman Volunteer Fire Department is prepared to serve approximately 1,800 meals. The meal, which is served in a drive-thru format, includes a grilled tenderloin sandwich and fries for a free-will donation.
Secretary/Treasurer for the Department, Tracy Owens, spoke with KCII about where any monetary donations will be going. “We are getting to the point in the next year or so [where] we are going to have to replace a lot of the firemen’s gear. Most of the gear we have has a 10-year lifespan on it. It is amazing how much it costs to just suit one individual. I’m gonna say it’s four or five thousand dollars by the time you get pants, coat, boots.”
The Wellman Fire Station is located at 95 3rd Street. Signs will be posted to direct traffic.
