The spotlight will shine on local track athletes at Lone Tree tonight for their annual Co-Ed meet. Seven local schools from the KCII listening area will send their boys and girls to compete.

The Lone Tree girls opened the outdoor season Saturday, scoring 104 points and finishing second at West Liberty. They were led by a title for Vivian Zaruba in the long jump and wins for the 4×100, 4×200, 4×800 and sprint medleys. The Lone Tree boys start their outdoor season tonight. They have been off since the Dickinson Relays at UNI more than a month ago.

The Columbus Wildcats will be in Lone Tree tonight. The Wildcat boys haven’t had a meet since the March 21st Steve Roth Relays at Case Field in Washington where they won the C Division team title, led by championships for Kaden Amigon in the 100m dash and long jump, titles for Russell Coil in the shot put and discus, Alexander Rees in the 110 hurdles, the sprint medley team of Rees, Lamar Ceant, Johnathan Miranda and Cade Storm and the 4×100 with Ceant, Juan Chairez, Miranda and Amigon. This will be the first outdoor meet of the year for the Wildcat girls.

The Highland Huskies will compete tonight in Lone Tree. The Huskies boys and girls teams were both in action at the Demon Co-Ed Relays Thursday at Case Field in Washington with the Highland girls getting a fifth place finish from Makenzie Davis in the 100 hurdles and the 4×2 team while the boys were paced by Jackson Schneider ninth in the 110 hurdles.

The Hillcrest Academy Ravens also ran in Washington Thursday. Leaders at the meet for the girls included Marie Yoder fourth in the 1500 and 3000, Rya Scott fourth in long jump, fourth for Morgyn Nafziger in the 100 and fourth for the sprint medley of Nafziger, Niva Helmuth, Delaney Shaw and Scott. For the boys, Owen Scott was third in high jump and long jump.

The Keota Eagles are on the oval in Lone Tree tonight. The Keota boys last ran at the Steve Roth Relays in Washington in March. The Eagle boys went fourth in the shuttle hurdle that night with the team of Chase Haifley, Ashton Thomas, Jack Greiner and Jacob Libe. This will be the first outdoor meet of the year for the Eagle girls.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls round out the list of area teams in Lone Tree tonight. The Golden Hawk girls were second as a team at Clear Creek Amana Friday, led by championships for Emma Lueck in long jump, Danielle Hostetler in the 1500 and the distance medley relay team of Dakota Mitchell, Lueck, Jovi Evans and Hostetler. The Mid-Prairie boys ran at Case Field in Washington Thursday where Jayden Stafford won the wheelchair 100, 200 and 400s while Burke Berry was fourth in shot put with Jayse Yoder in the mile and the 4×400 team of Keegan Bauwens, Shay Myers, Rees Waters and Evan Reschly finishing fifth.

Also attending tonight are Louisa-Muscatine and Tri-County. Action starts at 4:30 and continues into the evening at the Mike Kautz Track Complex in Lone Tree.
