The Sigourney Savages boast some of the best basketball players in the South Iowa Cedar League, and those players find themselves near the top of the East division in a number of statistical categories.

Carly Goodwin has been one of those players for a couple seasons, and her senior year is no exception. The Sigourney point guard leads the SICL East in assists and has scored the fifth-most points. Goodwin has both made and attempted the fifth-most field goals in the conference, and she is fourth in free throws made; free throws taken; and free-throw shooting percentage.

Goodwin is also third in three-point makes and takes, one spot behind junior teammate Ava Fisch. Hitting 29.3 percent of her triples has Fisch fifth in the league, while Savage junior McKinley Chittick is third at just under 31%.

Josephine Moore has been another star for Sigourney, puling down a conference-best 104 rebounds. The junior is hitting 46.5% of her shots, second-best in the SICL East, and has both the third-most attempted and made free throws in the conference. Senior teammate Erin Dawson has the fifth-most free-throw attempts, while fellow forward Amiya Smallwood leads the league in blocked shots for the Savages, which are 4-4 in conference play and 8-4 overall.

Issac Bruns is a big part of the Sigourney boys’ success. The junior has the third-most steals in the SICL East and is fifth in assists, rebounds and total shot attempts. Bruns has also knocked down over 71% of his free throws, second-best in the conference, while fellow forward John Berg’s 21 blocked shots is fourth in the league in his sophomore season.

Only one player in the SICL East has as many steals as the 33 that Savage guard Ike Molyneux has piled up in a terrific debut season. The freshman has the second-highest shooting clip from beyond the arc at 37.2%, just ahead of sophomore teammate Brayden Wood in third and Solon Yates in fourth.

Yates has hit 25 three-pointers, second-most in the conference, and the sophomore’s 78 attempted shots from deep are third-most in the league, a key contributor to the Savages going 6-5 so far this season, including a 4-5 mark in conference action.
