For the second time this fall, Governor Kim Reynolds has signed an extension of the proclamation relating to weight limits and transportation of grain, fertilizer, and manure during harvest.
With the first extension ending Saturday, this new proclamation is effective immediately and continues through Monday, December 11. This allows vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer, and manure to be overweight without a permit until that date. Vehicles must not exceed 90,000 pounds gross weight.
The proclamation applies to loads transported on all highways within Iowa, excluding the interstate system. Vehicles may not exceed the maximum axle weight limit of 20,000 pounds, and should still comply with posted limits on roads and bridges.
