On Monday, November 13th, weather dependent, Washington County will begin the replacement of a corrugated multi-plate culvert on 190th Street. This structure is located approximately four hundred feet west of Louisa Washington Road and will result in the road being closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. This work is being done by Washington County forces and will remove the existing rusted-out and failing fourteen-foot multi-plate culvert, originally installed in 1952, with a new fourteen-foot multi-plate culvert. The new culvert will be relocated slightly to the west, to better align with the existing waterway and will be longer, to provide a wider roadtop for the traveling public to safely move through the area. The new structure is expected to have a sixty- to seventy-year lifespan. The work on this project is expected to take about one to two weeks, weather permitting. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes to get around. Questions about the project can be directed to the County Engineer’s Office at (319) 653-7731.
