The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team is back in action Wednesday when they host the West Burlington Notre Dame Falcons in Kalona. Mid-Prairie is 6-5 on the year, 4-2 in the River Valley Conference, following a sweep at the hands of No. 4 in Class 2A Wilton on the road Monday by 4-2 and 11-6 scores. This season, the Hawks are hitting .381 as a team with 86 runs on 102 hits. Sophie Miller has a .529 average with 18 hits and 13 runs scored, all team leading numbers. She is one of five Hawks hitting .400 or better. Brenna Jehle leads Mid-Prairie with 16 RBI. In the circle, the Hawks have a team ERA of 3.50 with a .255 opponent batting average in 62 innings, giving up 66 hits, 31 earned runs, 25 walks and 56 strikeouts. Sydney Knebel has worked a team high 37 innings with a 2.65 ERA.

West Burlington Notre Dame is 8-4 this season, 4-1 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference South Division. They were 12-0 winners over Mediapolis Tuesday night in four innings. The Falcons are hitting .443 collectively with 115 runs on 120 hits. Lauren Summers is hitting an eye-popping .778 to lead the team. She is one of three Falcons over .600 with a total of five players over .400 in the lineup. Anna Engberg has a team best 22 hits with Madalynn Knapp’s 26 batted in best. In the circle, Notre Dame has a team ERA of 5.02 in 54 innings with a .301 opponent average. They have given up 69 hits, 39 earned runs, 25 walks and have struck out 73. Summers has gotten most of the work with an 8-1 record in 44 frames with a 2.39 ERA.
