The Washington Demons will be looking to continue an unbeaten start to conference play in softball when they travel to face Fort Madison tonight for a doubleheader you can hear on KCII. The Demons are 8-4, bouncing back from back-to-back losses at the Iowa City West Classic this weekend by beating Mid-Prairie 8-3 Saturday.

Sophomore Ella Greiner had one of the biggest swings for the Demons, hammering her second home run of the season against the Golden Hawks as part of three runs batted in. Greiner has been on a tear of late, putting up 10 hits over the last eight games and raising her season totals to nine RBI and 12 runs scored.

Freshman Leighton Salazar has been a force in the leadoff spot with a .459 batting average and a team-high 16 runs, while sophomore pitcher Bella Salazar is shutting opponents down in the circle, winning six of her seven starts and posting an earned-run average of two.

If Washington wants to get to 5-0 in league action and remain tied for first place in the Southeast Conference, they’ll have to win twice against a Fort Madison team that is 2-4. The Demon baseball team also faces the Bloodhounds in a doubleheader this evening, looking to end a three-game losing skid as they enter with a record of 2-6.
