The Keota Eagles fell in a pair of battle on the diamond with conference rival Montezuma Friday night. Keota baseball hung tough all game long, but Montezuma came out on top in a pitcher’s duel, 2-1. Eagle senior Aidan Anderson was brilliant on the bump, pitching all six innings and giving up no earned runs on just one hit while striking out 10. Senior Dalton Dodd and juniors Chase Sieren and Tanner Waterhouse had the only hits for Keota, which falls to 2-3 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 5-5 overall.

The Eagles fell behind Montezuma 3-0 after an inning of play in softball and saw that lead doubled by the end of the second frame. The Braves went on to win 11-0 in four innings, keeping Keota softball winless through their first six games. Both Eagle teams will be back in action this evening by taking on North Mahaska.
