The Mid-Prairie clean-up crew had the brooms out in full force Monday as the Golden Hawk soccer teams took care of business in both ends of a double dip against visiting Monticello. The Golden Hawk girls rolled to a 10-0 mercy rule win. The Hawks scored three goals in the game’s first five minutes to open up a quick 3-0 advantage. They enjoyed a 5-0 lead at the half. Mid-Prairie put five more tallies on the board after intermission, including the final goal in the 72nd minute. Six Golden Hawks found the back of the net, including Sophia Baker with her hat trick plus one. Zoey Curtiss had two goals and Kina Miller, Niva Helmuth, Amara Jones and Emily Curtiss each scored once. Miller had a hat trick of assists. Jones had two assists and Meadow Flynn and Lydia Beachy had one helper each. The win keeps the Hawks unbeaten at 3-0.

The Golden Hawk boys made it back-to-back wins Monday with a 6-1 triumph over Monticello. The Golden Hawks posted a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of the contest and rode that lead into half. Out of the break they extended the advantage to 6-0 before the Panthers got on the board late. Six different players scored for Mid-Prairie including Tucker Miller, Joe Hall, Noah Ford, Owen Trimpe, Daniel Rodgers and Jesse Stultz. Senior captains Trimpe and Ford joined KCII sports after the game to talk about the performance. Trimpe said, “The key tonight was balls down the sideline. Putting a foot on it and getting it on frame. They just happened to go in every time. (On my goal) I saw the defensive line was uneven, had a beautiful ball from Hugo (Banuelos) and from my old mentor Bristol (Harris), I walked that ball right in. Having so many offensive threats they can’t focus in on one guy.”

Ford added, “For me, the ball just came out and I put my foot on it. I think having so many guys score is great.

Trimpe and Miller each added an assist. The Hawks have evened their record at 2-2 after the victory. The girls and boys both roadtrip to Cedar Valley Christian Thursday.
