Monday saw a River Valley Conference split for the Mid-Prairie golf programs when they matched up with the Tipton Tigers. In Kalona, the girls were a 183-209 winner. The Hawks heated up along with the weather, shooting the school’s best team score in more than nine seasons as three players shot personal bests all-time. The Golden Hawks swept the medals with a career best round of 38 from Madi Davidson and a card of 43 from Gabi Robertson, her all-time low. Those two joined KCII sports after the meet to talk about the night. Davidson said, “This round was a lot better than my previous rounds. I figured something out on the course and it worked well for me. Our team did really well, we beat our goal which was 190. On hole five I had a birdie, it was a one putt. It was pretty nice!”

Robertson added, “For me it was the best round I’ve had, but I know there were a couple of things I can still fix. Everybody shot either their average or below, so I think we did really well.”

Other scores included a career best 49 for Kylie Reinier, Elliot Debler and Alexa Huber each at 53 and Addison English 54. The win moves the Hawks to 4-2. They will next be in action Monday in a triangular with West Branch and Wilton in West Branch.

The Mid-Prairie boys matched their best team round of the year, but it wasn’t enough as they were beaten 157-167 on the road by RVC favorite Tipton. Bryce Henry’s round of 40 was third at the competition to lead the Hawks. Other Mid-Prairie cards included Drew Schlabaugh 41, Aiden Bush 42, Warren Scarff 44, and Clayton Davidson and Alex Bean 54 each. The Golden Hawks are now 3-2 on the year and host their 18-hole, 10-team Golden Hawk Invitational Tuesday in Kalona.
