The next chapter of the Southeast Iowa Superconference basketball rivalry between Lone Tree and Hillcrest Academy will be written Tuesday. The Hillcrest boys are 7-6 this year, 7-3 in the Superconference after a 60-40 loss at home to Keota Saturday, led by 18 points from Grant Bender. This season, the Ravens score 56 points per game and give up 47, shooting 45% from the floor, 34% from three and 51% at the line with 24 boards, 15 assists, 12 steals and 11 turnovers per game. Individually, Bender averages a team best 17 points and six boards per night with Luke Schrock’s four assists and three steals leading the guards.

The Lone Tree boys are 6-9 overall, 3-6 in the Superconference after an 82-38 win over Highland Friday. This season, the Lions score 56 points per game and give up 55, shooting 40% from the floor, 31% from three and 52% at the line with 33 rebounds, 14 assists, 10 steals and 18 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include Ethan Bockelman at nine points per night. Emett Burke averages five rebounds, three assists and three steals per night. The Ravens beat the Lions 78-48 in Kalona December sixth with Grant Bender scoring 25 points, Seth Ours 17 and Luke Schrock 11.

The Hillcrest girls are 0-14 this season and 0-9 in conference following a 44-24 loss Saturday to Keota. This season, Hillcrest is averaging 23 points per game and giving up 51, shooting 22% from the floor, 24% from three and 49% at the line with 25 boards, four assists, six steals and 23 turnovers per game. Claire Withrow has a team best 11 points per night. Delaney Shaw has a team best six boards per night and Malia Yoder goes for two assists and two steals per night.

Lone Tree is 9-6 on the year, 5-4 in the Superconference after a 51-38 win over Highland Friday where Rylee Krueger led the Lady Lions with 20 points, Finley Jacque added 18. For the season, Lone Tree is scoring 40 per night and giving up 42, shooting 27% from the floor, 21% from three and 48% at the line with 30 rebounds, nine assists, 12 steals and 20 turnovers. Individual leaders include Jacque at 13 points and three steals per night. Vivian Zaruba has a team best five boards and two assists per game. Lone Tree won this matchup earlier in the year 41-24 with Alyson Ford scoring nine points and Malia Yoder 13 for Hillcrest.
