The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams travel to Wilton Wednesday to meet the Beavers in River Valley Conference action. The Golden Hawk baseball team is 12-8 on the year 7-7 in RVC play following an 8-4 loss to Iowa City Regina in Wellman Tuesday. They are ranked No. 8 in Class 2A according to the latest poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. The Hawks are hitting .287 as a team with six players over .300 led by Cain Brown and Karson Grout at .385 each. Brown leads the team with 25 hits and 22 runs scored. Dylan Henry has a team best 21 driven in. On the hill, Mid-Prairie’s team ERA is 4.22 led by Brady Weber at 1.25 across 22 innings with a 3-1 record. Grout, Bowen Burmeister and Brock Harland have also recorded multiple pitching wins. Wilton is 1-15 on the year and 1-12 in the RVC. They dropped a 10-6 decision at home to West Branch on Tuesday. For the season, the Beavers are hitting .198 as a team with four players over .300 led by Mason Ormsby at .351 with 13 hits. Gavin Schnepper has eight RBI and Josh Garvin seven runs. Wilton’s team ERA is 5.57 led by a 3.12 mark from Landyn Putman with his 0-4 record in 25 innings. Nolan Townsend is 1-6 with 40 innings of work and a 4.55 ERA. The Beavers have won 16 of the last 25 in the series, but the Hawks have won five straight including a 6-1 victory earlier this season.

The Mid-Prairie softball team is 12-9 this year following a 2-1 Tuesday upset of No. 4 Iowa City Regina in Kalona. The Golden Hawks are hitting .330 as a team with four players over .400 led by Madeline Schrader at .474 with 15RBI. Dakota Mitchell has 34 hits and 20 runs scored. In the circle, Sydney Knebel and Landry Pacha have worked 134 innings with a combined four ERA. Wilton is 13-3 this season and a perfect 11-0, leading the River Valley South division. They were 12-3 Tuesday winners over West Branch. They are ranked No. 7 in Class 2A according to the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. For the season, the Beavers are hitting .396 as a team with four over .400 led by Kinsey Drake at .529. Taylor Drayfahl has 38 hits and 31 runs scored. In the circle, Wilton’s team ERA is 1.93 with Charlotte Brown working 131 innings with an 18-5 record and 1.97 mark. Wilton has won 14 of the last 25 in the series including four straight and an 11-2 victory over the Hawks on May 31st of this season.
