
Cafe Dodici will be hosting a special guest on Friday as part of Juneteenth Week in Washington.
Author and Des Moines Register Columnist, Rachelle Chase will be meeting interested patrons and readers after her presentation at the Library about her new book “Lost Buxton” where she will be signing copies of the book.
The book details the history of Buxton, Iowa which was a thriving coal mining town established in 1900 where Blacks and Whites were treated equally. Black Americans in Buxton not only made up the majority of the population of Buxton but were also doctors, lawyers, business owners and teachers.
The presentation at the library is free and open to the public, while the book signing is a ticketed event. You can get tickets at www.eventbrite.com.
