Taking after this week’s weather, the Keota baseball team is scorching right now and North Mahaska wasn’t able to stop the blaze last night when the Eagles pulled off a dramatic 9-6 walk off win in a critical South Iowa Cedar League matchup.
Trailing 6-4 heading into the last of the seventh, the purple and gold put the rally caps on to tie it and with two on Caden Clarahan put the game to bed with a three run blast for a walk off winner. The freshman was mauled by his teammates as he crossed the plate in what was his only hit of the day. He tossed the first four innings on the hill surrendering five earned runs on seven hits and six strikeouts. Aiden McGuire was the pitcher of record recording the final nine outs and giving up no runs on just one hit. The Eagle bats scattered seven knocks with Tanner Waterhouse going 2-for-3 and crossing the plate twice. This is the fifth straight win for Keota, as they improve to 11-3 overall and 7-1 in the SICL.
The softball game was all Warhawks (7-6) in a 15-0 final score. The Eagles drop to 0-11.
