The third annual Rainbow Walk in Washington is set for June 25th at noon in Sunset Park.

Those walking in the Rainbow Walk will wear white t-shirts and have bright paint tossed on them. This event is all about having a good time with friends, family and building support in the community. Whitney Gray, who is the organizer of the Rainbow Walk, believes that the overall goal is much larger.

“The biggest thing for me is to let kids in this community know that there are people in this community that support them and that want to be there for them. 45% of LGBTQ+ youth at some point contemplate suicide and it’s important for me to let these kids know that they’re not alone.”

For those concerned about the mess and or safety of throwing paint during the walk fear not. All the washable paint will be provided for the audience and the scheduled water balloon fight after the Rainbow walk will take care of most of the mess.
