May the Fourth was definitely with Roman Roth on Wednesday, as the Demon boys’ golfer earned Southeast Conference bragging rights with a first place showing at the conference meet in Fairfield.
The sophomore shot a 36 front nine coupled with a 35 back to capture gold with a 71, three strokes better than the rest of the field. He birdied the second and 11th hole and had 13 pars on the day. The regular season SEC champs in the Demons fell short of sweeping the tournament title as well, by placing third with an 18-hole score of 335. Fairfield was second on their home course with a 326 and Burlington won with 307. Other Demon scores included Luke Beenblossom 87, Isaac Vetter 88, Teague Mayer 89, John Prochaska 93, and Grant Sobaski 94.
The Demons now get ready for the big one on Wednesday when they travel to Fort Madison for sectionals.
