The first of a back-to-back Southeast Iowa Super Conference doubleheader was Monday for the Lone Tree basketball teams and the Lions struggled to keep up with Pekin by being swept on the road.

The Panther girls (4-8) had a methodical victory over the Lions by leading 14-8 after one and 34-20 at the break that eventually turned into a 61-40 final score. Kasey Chown recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds while Riley Krueger also had 11 points. After that loss, the Lions dropped to 5-9. The Lone Tree boys got behind the eight ball early by digging themselves a 16-4 hole after one and 26-9 at the break. The lead continued to steepen in the final two quarters with the Panthers (4-8) winning 60-29. Jack Buser had eight points off the bench for the Lions and Mitchell Koedam hauled in nine boards. Lone Tree moved to 3-9.
