A girl/boy basketball doubleheader took place in Keota on Tuesday with the Eagles entertaining Belle Plaine for a South Iowa Cedar League showdown. 

The Eagle girls picked up their first victory of the winter with a 37-27 win on the strength of outscoring the Plainsmen 25-12 in the second and third quarters. Keota out rebounded their opponent 40-33 with a monstrous 19 boards coming from Taylor Kindred. The senior finished with a double-double by adding 15 points and Macie McDonald recorded nine. The purple and gold improve to 1-3 on the young campaign. 

Playing back-to-back nights, the Eagle boys ran out of gas against the Plainsmen and fell 55-49. The score was tied 33-33 after the third, but a 22-16 Belle Plaine fourth sealed the conference bout. Three Keota players finished in double figures led by Sawyer Stout collecting 15 points, Colten Clarahan had 12 points and seven rebounds, while Cole Kindred added 10 points and four steals. Keota is now 1-1.
