A memorable volleyball season at Sigourney High School came to a close on Monday when the Savages traveled to No. 4 Lisbon for a class 1A regional semifinal and the home Lions won in straight sets.

The Lions looked like a well oiled machine with set wins of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-12. Ella Clark and Ava Czarnecki combined for 22 kills in the win. Sigourney was led offensively by Emma Hammes with eight kills and Brookelyn Hemsley managed 15 assists. Raegan Rozenboom registered 12 digs and was a perfect 12 of 12 serving. Hammes and Amiya Smallwood each had four blocks. The Savages qualified for this round after a nail biting five set victory over Iowa Valley last week.

Sigourney concludes the season 17-14, the fourth most wins in program history. They bid farewell to six seniors in Rozenboom, Maddie Hornback, Madison Richard, Reggie Talbert, Emma Gilliland, and Emmagin Hopwood.
