A Mount Pleasant man was arrested on multiple firearm charges Tuesday.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple reports of a subject firing shots across the Skunk River at approximately 12:25 a.m. by the dam at Oakland Mills Park. Twenty-seven year-old Trey Alexander Lewis was seen entering a vehicle with two juveniles and started traveling northbound towards Mount Pleasant. Mount Pleasant Police Officers located and stopped the vehicle and were able to identify Lewis. After a search of the vehicle, police found a loaded 9 millimeter handgun in Lewis’ possession. Lewis was arrested and transported to Henry County Jail without incident. He was subsequently charged with control of firearm by a felon, a class D felony; two counts of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor; possession or carrying of dangerous weapons while under the influence of alcohol, a serious misdemeanor; and reckless use of a firearm, a simple misdemeanor.
