Felony drug-related charges have recently been dismissed through a plea agreement with a Washington man.

Court documents show that charges of possession of more than five grams of methamphetamine, a class B felony; and possession of 50 kilograms or less of marijuana, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp, both class D felonies were dismissed for 20-year-old Willie James Brooks, and he was found guilty of hemp inhalation, a serious misdemeanor. A one-year prison sentence was suspended with credit given for time Brooks has already been confined following his arrest.

Brooks is to be placed on one year of probation, and he must pay a $430 fine with a 15% criminal services surcharge, as well as pecuniary damages and category B restitution. Brooks’ conviction stems from an April 30, 2020 incident in which law enforcement conducted a search warrant at his residence in the 300 block of South C Avenue. Several narcotic items were located in plain view.
