Last week an officer with the Mount Pleasant Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop at the Best Western Hotel, 810 North Grand Avenue in Mount Pleasant. The vehicle left the scene and a pursuit was initiated. The suspects traveled west from Mount Pleasant, crossing into Jefferson County and eventually losing control at the Lockridge turnoff on Highway 34. The suspects, 23-year-old Dylan Dekraai and 25-year-old Syndey Mallonee, both of Ottumwa, fled the scene on foot and were eventually apprehended. Dekraai was charged with fraudulent use of registration, driving while barred, eluding, possession of a controlled substance and interference with official acts. He also had previous active warrants out for his arrest. Mallonee was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Both suspects were transported to the Henry County Jail. Assisting the Mount Pleasant Police were the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfield Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
