A national chain restaurant is opening for business in the City of Washington today with a fundraiser for a local organization.

Jersey Mike’s Subs, located at 120 East Jefferson Street is holding a grand opening now through Sunday to support the Washington Iowa Betterment Foundation. Customers with a special fundraising coupon may make a minimum $2 contribution in exchange for a regular sub. Franchise co-owner Michelle Hunt says they will be distributing thousands of coupons for free sandwiches with a $2 donation and all funds raised will go directly to the charity. Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and public health authorities, the restaurant’s dining room will be open at a reduced capacity with socially distant tables.
