The Sigourney-Keota wrestling team started up the second half of the season Thursday in a home quadrangular with area school Columbus Community making the trip.

The Cobras went 2-1 in duals by falling to Iowa Valley 34-33, but defeating Columbus 42-33 and North Mahaska 37-29. S-K got plenty of matches in with 28 on the night and they won 16 of them. Evan Dawson was the headliner winning all three contested matches at 145 lbs with a pin in 4:47, a 12-9 decision, and an 8-4 decision victory. Cobras with two wins included Daniel McLaughlin at 126 lbs, Reid Molyneux at 132 lbs, Jacob Moore at 138 lbs, Jack Clarahan at 160 lbs, Aidan Schuster at 182 lbs, and Cade Streigle at 195 lbs. 

In addition to falling to S-K, Columbus lost to Iowa Valley 42-27, but defeated North Mahaska 45-28. The Wildcats won 14 out of 27 contested matches. Cole Storm won all three of his bouts by fall at 152 lbs in a combined 2:24. Two contested match winners included Lane Scorpil at 120 lbs, Trent Wilkerson at 195 lbs, and Chance Malone at 285 lbs.

Both schools get back on the mat today with Sigourney-Keota at Ottumwa and Columbus at Van Buren.
