One Washington softball player officially became a Division I athlete this week when Kellie Dallmeyer signed her letter of intent to play for The University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Tommies moved from a non-scholarship NCAA Division III school to Division I this year and will be a part of the Summit League Conference. Dallmeyer tells KCII Sports she is ready for the big stage. “It definitely is exciting that they are going to be D-I, especially because I will be in the first class to experience the jump. It will be surreal. There are a lot of girls on the roster right now and I am being recruited as a utility player.” Dallmeyer has been almost automatic at shortstop throughout her time in a Demon uniform and led the team in batting average each of the last three seasons. This past summer in a shortened campaign she compiled a .396 batting average with 38 hits, 24 RBI, and 27 runs scored en route to a second team all state selection.

Dallmeyer plans to major in exercise science and health nutrition with goals of being an athletic trainer.
