A large business in southeast Iowa made a donation to help food insecure Iowans. Tyson Foods is making a monetary gift of $50,000 to provide for those in need. This gift is part of the Beef Up Iowa Program and was donated to the Iowa Cattleman’s Foundation on October 13th. Since Beef Up Iowa launched over the summer, more than 40 head of cattle have been processed, generating 30,000lbs of beef. These cattle were purchased from Iowa youth who raised the animals as 4-H or FFA projects. This program is a partnership between Iowa State University, Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the Iowa Food Bank Association and Iowa’s beef industry organizations. It is an initiative of Governor Kim Reynolds’ Feeding Iowans Task Force led by Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg.
