Twin Lakes Country Club will be the destination for a few area cross country teams today for a meet that is hosted by Winfield-Mt. Union.

The Wolves will welcome area schools from Lone Tree and WACO. WMU Head Coach Amanda Hemsworth says this course is always a favorite amongst competitors. “Usually this race has some of the best times. The adrenaline of our home meet and it being a nicer course plays into it. It is going to be a little cool so we need to make sure we get our muscles loose and ready to go. I think they are excited for it and ready to come out with a bang.”

The Wolves last ran on Monday at the Iowa City Kickers Complex where the boys placed 10th with Dane Sweezer finishing 23rd. Avery Maeder led the girls’ squad in 32nd. WACO was also competing in Iowa City with junior Jonah Egli highlighting the action placing sixth. The Lions competed in Washington on Tuesday where the boys’ finished fourth in the team standings and Nick Saltzman received a medal in 19th.

The first race gets underway at 4:30 p.m. this evening at Twin Lakes Country Club in Winfield.
