A case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at Washington High School. In a public letter, Superintendent Willie Stone explained that a high school student or staff member tested positive and the district is working with public health officials for contact tracing. Anyone identified as having close contact with the individual has been contacted. As of Wednesday, the school district had five students and four staff members absent from COVID-19 symptoms or positive tests, along with 23 students in quarantine due to exposure.

Parents are encouraged to continue to monitor their student’s health. Keep students home if they are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19 like fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, headache, congestion, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, diarrhea, or new loss of taste or smell. The Washington School District requires students and staff to wear face coverings to school.
