The Mid-Prairie School District is moving forward with additions to their wrestling facility. Head Wrestling Coach Justin Garvey told the school board Monday that the program has gained 11 wrestlers this year, for a total of 32, and more space is needed at their facility. After donations of materials and labor is considered, approximately $35,000 will be needed for the project, which will add more space to the facility to add a third wrestling mat. Additional funds will come from donations from various groups and individuals and an annual Physical Plant and Equipment Levy match grant from the booster club for athletics of $15,000. After receiving the board’s approval, the school awaits the fire marshall’s approval in order to proceed with the renovation project. Garvey and Superintendent Mark Schneider anticipate these additions to be completed prior to the start of the wrestling season.
