It was a solid start to Southeast Iowa Super Conference play for the Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team on Thursday, as they hosted Pekin for their home opener and came out on top in four sets.

The Panthers were scrappy to open the night by taking game one 25-23, but adjustments were made and the Wolves dominated the rest of the way with remaining set scores being 25-14, 25-14, and 25-13. Jenna Buffington led the offensive attack with 11 kills while Melina Oepping had eight. Keely Malone registered 18 assists, Kyndal Townsley recorded 15 digs, and Buffington was successful on all 15 serve attempts with two aces.

The Wolves start up SEISC play 1-0 and move to 5-2 overall. They get back on the court Tuesday at Wapello.
