Alliant Energy customers in Washington County have gotten power back two days after severe thunderstorms hit the area. Emergency crews worked into the evening Monday to remove trees that had fallen on power lines in Wellman. Alliant Energy crews are working to repair essential services and facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, fire and police departments, and water systems across the state. Crews will work 24/7 to restore services to Alliant customers until power has been fully restored. KCII News reached out to Alliant representatives Tuesday evening who said that it is not yet known how long it will take to fully restore power. Alliant Energy Manager of External Communications Cynthia Tomlinson says customers should report any downed power lines to the company so crews can report to the scene and repair those downed power lines. Tomlinson says over 200,000 customers in Iowa are still without power.
