One man was killed and another injured when a semi hit a DOT truck on Highway 218 near Olds on Monday. According to the Iowa State Patrol the collision happened at 10:55 a.m. The semi was driven by 54-year-old Brent Alan Schlenker of Malcolm and the DOT vehicle was driven by 57-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Arbogast of New London.

The DOT vehicle was part of a maintenance project and was in the northbound lane of the highway. It was the second vehicle in the maintenance crew and was towing equipment. It had a lighted signboard. The semi failed to yield to the first warning DOT vehicle and struck Arbogast’s vehicle from behind.

Arbogast was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital but died from his injuries. Schlenker was taken by Henry County Ambulance to the Henry County Health Center for treatment of injuries.

The wreck is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
