It’s an all-South Iowa Cedar League showdown at Schafer Field in Sigourney tonight when the Savage softball team hosts the English Valleys Bears in the class 1A regional tournament. Sigourney got the playoffs underway with an opening round win over Moravia 12-0 Monday. Courtney Hemsley, Megan Stuhr and Carly Goodwin all drove in a pair in the victory. The Savages come into the night with an overall record of 14-4 on the year. They are hitting .361 as a team, 10th best in class 1A led by Megan Stuhr at .593, third best. She has 32 hits, 30 RBI and 28 runs scored. The Savages have a team ERA of 2.25 led by Madelyn Hornback and Carly Goodwin. Both have a 2.24 mark and a combined 12-4 overall record in 100 innings thrown.

English Valleys is 10-5 on the season. The Bears got by Montezuma 3-1 in the opening round. For the year the Bears are hitting .308 led by Gwen Mews at .510 with 25 total hits, 15 runs scored and nine RBI. In the circle EV has a team ERA of 2.48 led by Hannah Marsh with a 9-5 record and 2.65 mark in 87 and a third innings. These two teams met during the regular season with Sigourney taking a 7-0 win. This game was moved from Wednesday to Thursday due to wet weather in the area. Action begins tonight at 7p.m. at Schafer Field in Sigourney.
