night-to-shine

Plans for the fourth annual Night to Shine in Washington are underway. Local organizer Ann Williams explains the prom for adults with disabilities is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation for the first three years, but will be on its own moving forward, “So as we look forward to our fourth prom our funding will have stopped. So, we will not receive anything from the Tim Tebow Foundation for the event. Now having said that, they may give us what they call a coupon at the company store because each guest goes home with a gift and we try to make that a photograph of them and/or with their date, and then it goes in a very nice picture frame. This past year gave each of them a personal t-shirt which was specially made for them. And then we have some other little things. So, they do give us a little bit of financial funding to purchase some of those items like a tiara or a crown because everyone is crowned king or queen of the prom.”

One local couple who was involved in the special event was Jim and Jan Stiles. After the Stiles passed away, local realtor Connie Larsen finalized the sale of their home earlier this year. And after speaking with the Stiles’ children, Larsen selected Night to Shine as a charity recipient of a portion of her commission from the sale.

Night to Shine is free to all who attend and last year they had people from three states take part. Individuals or organizations that would like to donate to the next Night to Shine can do so by contacting Williams. The next Night to Shine will be held in February 2021.
