The playoff journey continues tonight for the Highland boys’ basketball team, as they host North Cedar for a class 1A district semifinal.

The Huskies are 19-4 and qualified for the semis after a hard fought 47-36 win over Hillcrest Academy on Thursday. Zack Lasek is the focus down low for opponents, as the senior averages 16.9 points and 10 rebounds a night. The offense becomes dangerous when others are able to knock down shots with Mason McFarland and Cole Adamson shooting north of 34% from deep. The Knights are 13-9 out of the River Valley Conference and they beat Lisbon 76-50 last week. Four players average double figures led by Ethan Sahr with 15.3 points a game.

The matchup gets underway around 8 p.m. in Riverside and listen to all of the action on FM 106.1 KCII. Lone Tree will play in the first game of the doubleheader at Highland High School, as the Lions face off with Springville. Lone Tree is 14-9 and coming off of an exciting 73-72 win over Calamus-Wheatland in the first round. The Orioles are 17-5 and beat Morningstar Academy 64-29.
