The basketball season came to a close for the Winfield-Mt. Union girls on Tuesday when they fell to Burlington Notre Dame 71-25 in a class 1A regional quarterfinal.

The Wolves could never get into double-digit scoring for a quarter and trailed 16-5 after one and 29-14 at half. The 19-4 Nikes put the game away in the third outscoring the Wolves by 19 and never looked back en route to the big win. Keetyn Townsley paced WMU with eight points and Farrah Nelson added six points while hauling in five rebounds.

Burlington Notre Dame advances to play Lone Tree on Friday in a regional semifinal. The Wolves close the season 12-11 and they bring everyone back next year.
