In a battle of area boys’ basketball teams on Monday night, Keota picked up a late season non-conference victory over Highland 60-51 at home.

The Eagles took control early grabbing a 13-7 lead after one and 31-24 at the break. The Huskies made their push in the third cutting the deficit to one, but the Eagles made enough plays in the final eight minutes to hold on for the win. JD Stout was his normal scoring self with a game-high 30 points on 12 of 25 shooting and Luke Hammen chipped in with 14. Zack Lasek did all he could to keep the Huskies around, as he had 21 points and 19 rebounds.

The Huskies turned around and finished the regular season on Tuesday by edging Lone Tree 54-50 and moved to 18-4 on the season. They battle Hillcrest Academy at home next Thursday in a class 1A district game. Keota defeated Davis County last night 69-52 and they are now 17-3. The Eagles have one final regular season game with Keota on Friday before their first district game next Thursday against the winner of English Valleys and Moulton-Udell.
