This week the Iowa High School Athletic Association announced the new district pairings for the upcoming football season.

Washington will have a similar five-game district season in class 3A except they won’t have to go through Solon, as Burlington replaces them. Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, and Mount Pleasant make up the rest of district #5. Mid-Prairie will have the same district schedule in class 2A except Albia was swapped out for West Burlington/Notre Dame. Central Lee, Davis County, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, and Williamsburg make up the rest of district #7. Sigourney-Keota is the lone area team in class 1A and district #6 also includes Cardinal, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, Pekin, and Van Buren. Columbus Community dropped down to class A and they share a league with Highland. The rest of district #6 includes Lisbon, North Cedar, Regina, and Wapello. WACO, Winfield-Mt. Union, and Lone Tree all stay put in the same eight-player district. English Valleys, Montezuma, Moravia, New London, Tri-County, and Twin Cedars make up the rest of district #4.

The new districts will be intact for two seasons before realigning.
