Seventy-five students from across Iowa were selected for an honor band, and one WACO senior will represent her school. Liz Birchfield was selected to play in the Iowa State Gold Honor Band. Individuals selected to the Gold Honor Band must be part of the All-State Band. Birchfield tells KCII about her initial reactions when she heard she made the band, “I felt pretty good, but I kind of expected it because I made it to All-State. Either way it’s a really good opportunity and I really just can’t wait to meet all the new people.” The honor band spent all day Friday practicing for the concert, which happens Saturday at ISU’s Stephens Auditorium.
