The Highland Robotics team fought tooth and nail to make it to the Super Qualifier Tournament. This past weekend, the robotics team, nicknamed the Finger Tightans, competed in their league championship at Indian Hills Community College. The team impressed the judges and were able to win the Connect Award, for the outstanding connection to their community at the competition. They placed second for the Inspire Award given to the top teams that are great role models at the competition. Team member Alex Tompkin talked about how his team performed and what needs to be improved for the Super Qualifier tournament, “It was ok. There were some last-minute tweaks that we were making. Once we actually got back, having that little extra time to look back over things, we did notice little changes that would have made a big difference like how fast our lift moved autonomously, we could have doubled that speed. But just little things that we can improve.” The Super Qualifier Tournament will take place at Regina High School in Iowa City on February 15th.
