The Golden Hawk boys opened the season with a 63-55 win. Mid-Prairie opened the game with an 11-2 run and never trailed on the night. The lead stood at five after one quarter and 37-27 at the half. The Golden Hawks would stretch their advantage to as many as 24 in the fourth quarter. After the game, Golden Hawk head coach Daren Lambert talked about the win. “We were very pleased. We stressed the defensive end of the floor and said the offense would take care of itself. Starting the game on 11-2 run gave us some confidence. Our offensive execution was good. We were patient, we got the ball into the high post. It started to click for us as the game went on. We need to take what we learned tonight and keep pushing forward.”
Mid-Prairie was led by Carter Harmsen with 16 points. With the win, Mid-Prairie is 1-0 on the year. The Golden Hawk boys and girls host Tipton Friday in an RVC doubleheader.
