The Washington girls’ basketball team inches closer to the start of the season and they look to build off of an 8-14 campaign last year.

The Demons will need to find a new leading scorer after the graduation of Isabel Bailey, but they do bring back Addison Six. The senior tallied 5.7 points and 4.6 rebounds a night last winter. Her 6’0’’ counterpart Olivia Pacha also returns for her senior year and looks to improve off of 5.1 points and 5.2 rebounds a game. Halle Leyden, Kinsey Duwa, and Kellie Dallmeyer are other players that bring back significant experience along with Ana Nacos who is back in the district after a year elsewhere. Second year head coach Shannon Rugg tells KCII Sports the defensive end will go a long way in determining how successful of a year they will have. “Defense is something we will hang our hat on this year and dig in on that end. We will compete as hard as we possibly can and then figure out a way to put up enough points offensively.”

The first look at the Demons is Friday when they scrimmage WACO.
