For the fourth straight year Washington was represented at the state cross-country meet in Fort Dodge with Lance Sobaski competing on Saturday.

The sophomore finished 95th out of 130 runners in the class 3A boys meet with a time of 17:48.9. He tells KCII Sports there is nothing like the experience at state. “This whole experience is amazing. I have been here before, but nothing compares to being in the race and tunnels of people are around you the entire time screaming your name. It was a blast.” Sobaski qualified for the event after placing 13th at districts in Solon.

Previous Demon runners at state in the last four years include Claire Horak in 2016, Brennan Horak in 2017, and Evan Horak last year.
