Refuse collection was a headline topic at the most recent meeting of the Riverside City Council. Steve Smith of Johnson County Refuse made a presentation to the council regarding their cart system for garbage and recycling. The proposed start date for the contract would be December 1st of 2019. The proposal would also include an option for yard waste services. Several cities within the KCII listening area, including Washington, Kalona, and Ainsworth, have recently entered similar agreements with Johnson County Refuse to handle garbage and recycling services.
