Muzzleloader season for Iowa deer hunters begins Saturday and runs until October 20th. A second season will be available for muzzleloader hunters from December 23rd to January 10th. Shooting hours for all deer seasons are half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset.  As with all deer seasons, hunters are required to report harvests either at iowadnr.gov or by calling the number printed on their harvest tag. Muzzleloader hunters should be sure to only prime or cap their weapons when ready to fire. Only load one charge at a time and always be aware of your surroundings before you pull the trigger.
