Washington High School’s Marching Demon Nation claimed top honors at a recent contest. The show titled Dante’s Ascent took first place at the Davis County Festival of Bands. Due to field conditions, the contest was moved indoors to a gym. The Demons also received awards for Outstanding Winds and Outstanding Percussion.
The music for the show was written by senior band member John Flannery, “My eighth grade year we did the show Dante’s Descent, so it’s kind of like a sequel almost to that. I felt it was just kind of an inspirational starting point.” The band is under the direction of Don Hughes and has 77 members. It is led by drum majors Audrey Wubbena and Hunter Rarick.
