Shootouts have become the norm for the WACO football team and for the third straight week they came up just short Friday night falling to Montezuma 62-57.
After taking a brief 21-14 lead to end the first quarter, the Warriors were playing catch up the rest of the way after 20 unanswered points from the Braves. The Warriors got down three scores in the fourth and rallied back to make a game of it, but too little, too late. Nik Coble led the offense finishing 21 of 40 for 275 yards through the air and two touchdowns while adding four more on the ground and 204 yards. Jaden Williams had 10 receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown. Braden Hammond had seven tackles on the other side of the ball.
The Warriors drop to 1-3 with every loss being by one possession. They return home against Iowa Valley on Friday.
